MASTER THE VOCABULARY

STEP 1:
Choose
your colors.

There are 8 categories of critical vocabulary:
  • Knowledge Areas
  • Process Groups
  • 49 Processes
  • Plan Components
  • Documents & updates
  • Tools & Techniques
  • Who does what?
  • Other Terms
Think about which colors you have available, and decide how you will use them.

The Color Assignment Legend

I found a box of pens containing 8 colors (photo above).  TheColor Assignment Legend indicates the colors I used, and the category I assigned to each.  I have also included a suggestion on how to do this with only 4 colors.

Keep this in mind.  The two most important distinctions are:
  • Knowledge Area -vs- Process or Process Group.
  • Plan elements -vs- Documents, including updates
(business documents, project documents, procurement documents, etc.).
Everything else can be black.
