MASTER THE VOCABULARY

STEP 2:
Color-code
your glossary

Go through your glossary.  Underline one category of words in a dedicated color, as you acquaint yourself with this new terminology.

  1. Mark one category at a time.

  2. Say each word out loud as you underline it.
Let your ears support your effort to learn.

  3. Consciously think to yourself of the category to which this term belongs.  Better yet, say it outloud.  For example, “Integration Management. Integration Management is a Knowledge Area (purple).

Even if you will use the same color for several categories (black, for example),  I suggest you mark the categories one at a time.  This will help your brain to make connections like, “this and this and this … are all Tools” (for example).

Underline only the words you expect to be on the exam.

It would be helpful to take a 5-minute break in between the categories. Stretch or take a walk, even better, take a nap (sleep helps move new information into long term memory).  Better still, review one category each night before you sleep.
This is a learning experience, not an administrative task.
This is one of those situations where, the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it.  Doing this in a deliberate manner will pay dividends, once you begin to read the text.
